Application Notes: Huddle Room over IP

Application Notes: Huddle Room over IP

Overview

This guide covers deploying KanexPro AV over IP in a huddle room — a small meeting space requiring BYOD presentation, USB-C connectivity, and a single display over the existing IP network.

Recommended SKUs

  • AVO-IPJP2KUC-ENC — JPEG2000 BYOD Encoder — USB-C & HDMI (at the table)
  • AVO-IPJP2K — JPEG2000 Encoder/Decoder (decoder at the display)
  • Managed 1G switch with IGMP snooping enabled

Typical Setup

  1. Source side: Place AVO-IPJP2KUC-ENC at the table. USB-C supports HDMI alt mode and 100W PD charging. HDMI input for legacy sources.
  2. Display side: Connect JPEG2000 decoder to the display via HDMI. Connect decoder to switch.
  3. Network: Connect both to the managed switch on the same subnet with IGMP snooping enabled.
  4. Routing: Encoder auto-routes to decoder. No controller needed for a single room.

Key Features

  • BYOD: USB-C laptops (Mac, PC, Chromebook) with auto-detect. No drivers required.
  • PD Charging: Up to 100W — charges while presenting.
  • Auto-switch: Automatically selects USB-C or HDMI based on connected source.
  • 4K60: Full resolution to the room display.

Optional: Wall Plate Installation

Replace the table encoder with AVO-IPJP2KWP or AVO-IPJP2KWPM for a flush wall/table panel installation.
