Features & Configuration: USB KVM Setup

Overview

USB KVM over IP lets you control a remote computer from a local keyboard and mouse, with video delivered via the AV over IP encoder/decoder pair. No extra KVM hardware needed — KVM signals travel over the same 1G Ethernet as video.

Supported SKUs

Note: AVO-IPJP2KS (Slim) does not support USB KVM.

How It Works

  • Encoder (remote computer): Connect computer HDMI to encoder. Connect USB cable from encoder USB port to computer USB port.
  • Decoder (local workstation): Connect decoder HDMI to display. Connect keyboard and mouse to decoder USB ports.
  • When routed, keyboard/mouse at the decoder transmit over IP to the encoder, appearing as local USB devices.

Setup Steps

  1. Connect encoder HDMI input to remote computer video output.
  2. Connect USB cable: encoder USB port → remote computer USB port.
  3. Connect keyboard and mouse to decoder USB ports.
  4. Connect decoder HDMI output to local display.
  5. Route encoder to decoder via web GUI or IP controller.
  6. KVM is active. USB 2.0 devices (flash drives, hubs) also supported.
