Application Notes: Video Wall Deployment
Overview
JPEG2000 AV over IP supports up to 9×9 video wall configurations over 1G managed Ethernet using the AVO-IPJP2K family and the AVO-IPCTL-JP2K controller.
Supported Configurations
- Max size: 9×9 (81 displays)
- JPEG2000 only — H.265 and SDVoE do not support video wall mode
- Layouts: 2×2, 3×3, 4×4, custom grid, mixed
- Bezel compensation supported
Equipment Required
- One AVO-IPJP2K encoder per source; one decoder per display
- AVO-IPCTL-JP2K controller
- Managed 1G switch with IGMP snooping and MTU 9000
Step-by-Step Setup
- Enable IGMP snooping, IGMP querier, and MTU 9000 on the switch.
- Mount displays and connect each to a dedicated decoder via HDMI.
- Connect all decoders, encoder, and controller to the switch.
- In the controller web GUI, go to Video Wall, select grid layout (e.g., 3×3).
- Assign decoders to grid positions matching physical display positions.
- Enter bezel compensation (horizontal and vertical bezel width in mm).
- Assign the encoder source and apply.
Best Practices
- Use identical display models for consistent brightness and bezel
- Label each decoder with its grid position (e.g., R1C1) during installation
- Use static IPs for all decoders
- Test with a full-grid test pattern before handoff
